COVID-19 UPDATE
Following the UK’s Coronavirus risk and the latest Government guidelines, we are pleased to be able to tell you that Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum is open.
Whilst visiting the garden and arboretum, please adhere to Government social distancing instructions and stay at least 2 meters apart. Please do not visit if you are unwell or have been in recent contact with someone with Covid-19.
We hope you enjoy the open space that Howick provides but please give others sufficient space to maintain appropriate social distancing. This may require some patience on narrower paths or in busier areas.
What we have done to make your visit as safe as possible:
Unfortunately we do not allow dogs, except assistance dogs.
We are a registered charity and don’t receive any public funding, therefore your admission price helps us to maintain the Gardens and Arboretum.

The Gardens are best known for their spring bulbs and the Woodland Garden; there are also summer borders and a rockery specialising in summer plants. In addition the wild bog garden around a pond is at its peak in high summer.
It is divided into two sections, the West Arboretum, which is the smaller and adjacent to the gardens, and The East Arboretum, which is much larger and not suitable for wheelchairs, being too hilly.
The exhibition tells the story of how the gardens and arboretum have gently evolved through generations of passionate gardeners and plantsmen. In addition the displays include some fascinating history about family members and their contribution to the gardens. Also interesting facts about unusual trees and plants growing at Howick, including tales from plant hunting expeditions abroad.
Enjoy a cup of Earl Grey tea in our elegant Earl Grey Tea House under the watchful gaze of Earl Grey himself. The Teahouse is open whenever the gardens are, exclusively for visitors to Howick Hall. The Earl Grey Teahouse offers a full range of teas and hot coffee. As well as cakes, scones and the infamous Earl Grey tealoaf. Light lunches are served daily, together with a specials boards. Which offer dishes in addition to that offerd from the standard menu. All of which are served to you by our friendly staff.
