Littlehoughton Hall and Pele Tower – Sleep 12
Littlehoughton Hall and Pele Tower is an impressive country home, located just two miles from the Northumberland Heritage Coastline and is the perfect base for your stay.
The core of the house is a small 13th century medieval Pele tower to which additions have been made at various times, but chiefly in the 17th and 18th century. The medieval portion of the building was originally a tower, 25ft square with walls 5ft thick, a vaulted lower storey and a newel staircase in one of the corners. The tower does not appear in any early lists of similar buildings, probably owing to its small size, however, a survey of 1734 refers to it as a ‘strong tower of great antiquity’.
Today, Littlehoughton Hall and Pele Tower is an impressive six-bedroomed home, with grand proportioned rooms, guests will never feel on top of each other.
