A FEW DOGGIE DO’S AND DO NOT’S!

We need your help and co-operation to make it work for every garden visitor.
To ensure we maintain our peaceful environment for all visitors, please follow these few simple rules:

Please respect visitors who may be fearful of dogs.

Dogs must be:
Well-behaved and kept on a short, non-extendable lead at all times in all areas of the garden and arboretum.
Under control at all times, no excessive barking, jumping up at other visitors, no digging, or roaming.
All four legged friends must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Must not enter any of the water features (including all pools, the burn or pond).

Please clean up after your dog:
Pick up all waste immediately using your own dog bags*
Please use the dedicated dog waste bins located throughout the garden and arboretum.
Try to deter your dog from weeing on plants or flowerbeds.
Do not leave dog waste bags anywhere except in the bins provided.

Unfortunately, Dogs are not permitted in:
The Visitor Centre and associated rooms on the ground floor of the Hall.
The Earl Grey Teahouse
Howick Parish Church
Any indoor areas, except the Admission Kiosk.

Important considerations:
Wildlife roams freely across the whole estate – if your dog has a strong prey drive, we recommend not to bring them.
Please do not leave your dog tied up, or unattended at any point of your visit.

Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum are not liable for injury caused by visiting dogs to other visiting dogs, people, or wildlife.
Dogs and their owners, found causing a nuisance, damage or distress will be asked to leave the Gardens & Arboretum.

Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum will provide:
Doggy drinking water stations.
Dedicated bins for dog waste.

Dogs will only be permitted entry to Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

* In cases of emergencies, our Kiosk staff will have a small supply of waste bags.
